About The Toilet Bidet

The toilet bidet is getting popular among consumers, and it’s essential to understand the benefits of the bidet. Everything you need to know about bidets is in this article – including how to pick the right one, use it, and maintain it.

General considerations in choosing a bidet

There are some factors to consider before choosing the right bidet.

Most of the bidet seats shall work with your existing toilet; however, toilets have a French curve that may not work with the bidet seats.

You should check with your toilet bowl for dimensions, shape, water opening, wattage, and water pressure of the seat before choosing one. This article also covers information about the Living Star toilet bidet you can choose.

Best Bidet Toilet Seat

What does a bidet seat do for you?

The toilet bidet helps to clean up without needing wipes. It thoroughly cleans up with built-in fantastic bidet features. The heated seat, warm water, and warm dryer make better blood circulation, which helps to improve some of your issues in the morning if you use them properly.

How do I choose the right bidet toilet seat?

You may need to check the features you need versus the cost you want to pay for: the more comprehensive the bidet seat, the more expensive the bidet seat is. Some crucial factors in buying decision are:

  • Hygienic: tankless or tank-type, nozzle material construction, water filter attachment; the tankless is vital to your hygiene.
  • Washing: posterior, feminine, turbo, wash for kid
  • Washing modes: nozzle oscillation for extensive cleansing and massaging
  • Adjustable water, seat, and air temperature, water pressure
  • Stainless nozzle: multiple water openings (2 or 3 holes) and nozzle cleaning options(self-nozzle cleaning, automatic cleaning, manual cleaning); nozzle plays a pivotal role for a bidet
  • Nightlight
  • Water filter (some regions may need a water filter to protect the unit from impurities in incoming water)

What are the bidet installation considerations?

Consider several factors about your toilet bowl and surroundings at the installation site. The audit shall help you save time and money before purchasing a bidet. Below is the graphical presentation of the checkpoints:

Check the dimensions of your toilet

Check your toilet’s dimensions, shape, and distance from the tank to the bowl. The distance requirement may differ from model to model.

The French curve toilets won’t fit with Living Star Bidet Toilet Seats and most other branded toilet bidet. To find further details on why the French curve and one-piece toilet bowls won’t work well with the bidets, click here.

Check the diagram below for reference to the measurements.

How To Measure Toilet Bowl Dimensions?

LivingStar Toilet Bidet Seat
  1. Measure the distance between the two toilet bolt holes of your toilet.
  2. Measure the distance between the toilet bolt hole and the toilet tank.
  3. Measure the distance between the toilet bolt hole and the front edge of the toilet bowl (shown the image below).

Find out what shape you will need: Elongated or Round.

Check the bidet shape to choose the right one. Usually, the length of the round shape runs between 19″ to 20″, and the elongated shape measures between 20.2″ to 21.5″.

Power requirement of the bidet seat and availability of wattage at your restroom.

A typical wattage of a bidet seat requires between 1000 to 1300 Watts, depending on the comprehensive functions available of the bidet seat. You should check your power availability in your restroom before installing the seat. Short wattage creates problems with blackouts or units going off due to a lack of power. If you have not checked and installed the bidet, the best way to check is to run the bidet while turning on a hairdryer in the restroom. If both are working, you have enough wattage; otherwise, try to use only one device at a time.

Check the ground of your power source

Ensure proper grounding of the power source to avoid unexpected and various issues while using the seat. Ensure your power source has the correct ground.

Check water pressure from the source

Lack of water pressure sometimes creates an issue in delivering proper water pressure to the unit.

A Normal Water Pressure Range: 70 ~ 100 PSI

The water pressure should be between 70 psi to ~ 100 psi. If the installation site is above ground level and lacking pressure, we recommend you use a tank-type bidet seat. However, improper water pressure still could be an issue to use continuous washing since it takes time to fill and heat water in the tank.

Can I install the seat by myself?

Most people can install a bidet seat by themselves. However, you may need professional assistance if the water opening or shape of the toilet may be abnormal.

Living Star bidet seats come with a complete bidet installation kit; you do not need to buy a part to install the bidet seat.

Other Considerations for Choosing Your Toilet Bidet

You should consider other bidet features described below:

1. Detachability for a complete cleaning of the unit

Make sure to clean the toilet seat thoroughly, including the hard-to-reach bottom part. There would be some contaminant deposits underneath the bidet over time.

Therefore, the unit has to be detachable so that you can clean the underneath.

For the longevity of the toilet bidet use, we highly recommend using a bidet made of PP material, which is more durable than ABS material.

How do I maintain my bidet toilet seat?

Consider a toilet filter (some regions may need it)

We recommend using one of the helpful bidet seat attachments, a toilet filter, and filtering impurities in incoming water. An inline water filtration system or bidet seat attachable water filter can purify the hard water present in some regions. The water filter helps the longevity of the bidet seat and protects your skin. You want to replace the filter every six(6) months or sooner, depending on the frequency of the seat use.

Detachable bidet toilet

The seat accumulates molds and urine marks after months of use without cleaning up the unit. We recommend detaching the bidet seat from the toilet bowl using a one-touch detaching button to release the entire bidet seat. Use a scratch-free microfiber towel with warm water to clean up the unit. Then, clean the nozzle, bidet seat, and lid without using chemicals. Ensure to completely dry the bidet seat before attaching the bidet toilet seat back to the bowl. You do not need to do a complete re-installation; all you do is push the bidet seat to the pre-installed trail.

Bidet Nozzle Cleaning

You can manually or automatically clean the bidet nozzle. The nozzle gets cleaned after each wash, and you can additionally press a button to clean the nozzle. The keyboard sequence to move the nozzle from the base for manual clean-up is simple on the Living Star bidet toilet seat. Ensure not to press unnecessary force when you clean up the bidet nozzle. Also, be careful not to clog up the holes in the bidet nozzle.

How to Clean Bidet

Cleaning Toilet Seat

Many people find cracks or imperfect bidet surfaces a few months or a year later. Strong cleaning chemicals may cause cracking in the seat or lid of a bidet made of ABS material. When you clean the unit, try to use a wet and soft towel to clean the toilet seat. Never use a powerful chemical agent to clean up the bidet seat. Read the further details on How to Prevent Cracks.

Use Bidet Energy Saving Mode

The built-in Energy Saving mode of the Living Star bidet seats can put the system in sleep mode, which makes the system use minimum energy, saving you money.

The mode saves you money and makes your seat extensive use.

A bidet seat is vulnerable to heat and pressure, exposing a higher chance of clacking over time. The mode uses only 0.11 Kwh, and your settings of temperatures and pressure back to the original by sitting.

How to use a bidet seat?

1. Set your preferred seat, water, and air temperature via the keyword.

You can also set the settings while you are using it. Note that the body sensor detects if you are not seated, and functional keys are all blocked; therefore, you must sit to change the settings.

2. Use simple wash functions: bidet or posterior wash in the beginning.
3. When used to the posterior or bidet wash, try other washes such as Turbo Wash and Automatic Wash with Nozzle Oscillation.
4. Repeat wash until you feel cleaned.
5. Use the air drying. You can use multiple washing and drying processes.
6. Try to use a low-temperature seat, water, and air with low-pressured water, unless you have a specific reason
